Forensic Study : Oskar's Gun, (Gestalt theory). (mixed Media, 100x150cm) in flux

 Oskar Pistorius,  Olympian Athlete also nicknamed the Blade Runner, stands accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, model and starlet on Valentines Day 2013  The trial is broadcast live  which provides an unique opportunity to wander and wonder in thoughts through facts, fiction and fantasy of this Opera . For days on end, slow and with orderly lunchbreaks, rececces  and weekends off.

 

To me the fascination is not primarily the question of innocence or guilt, but visual detail imagined cryptographically, the work in progress re-creation, delving into mind and matter  towards meaning. So often I am asked : whats this ? by visually illiterates. I might ask : why is this, but what?

So here are some clues to "whats this"'s  why-fore evolution, the viewer may indulge in own Forensic study and unravel the layers as they formatted upon the original template of my assumption:  "the gun did it".  Caught up or lost in ever more meanings, detail, allusion, metaphore one whiles away at hours.

'the lock:,  M'lady Justice  balancing the scales of justice, blindfolded, with paperwork and paragraphenalia and recreating in her 'minds eye' the stock: a coffin or bed with flowers to Reeva - lately more like a watermelon-, Oskar the barrel and accused balanced on an hourglass , "we've got lots of time Mr. Pistorius" , imprisoned in cage. My Bloody Valentine, Ladykiller (a small gun ideal for a lady's purse) Dum Dum ,Bullets, like a  Zombie Stopper, Vomit Bucket, flowers, Bang Bang my boo boo ballistic trajectory, cricket bat, fans (one or two?),fear , cellphones, a door , bodybag and the  ultimate toilet,......, thinking, not thinking emotional breakdowns etc..

 As the trial proceeds , I will continue to tamper with  evidence and contaminate the process of  investigative reconstruction. Skinning, unskinning the onion of conciousness' layers, veiling and unveiling , tosssing bones and potluck divination. 

Gestalt psychology or gestaltism (German: Gestalt – "shape or form") is a theory of mind of the Berlin School. The central principle of gestalt psychology is that the mind forms a global whole with self-organizing tendencies. This principle maintains that the human mind considers objects in their entirety before, or in parallel with, perception of their individual parts; suggesting the whole is other than the sum of its parts. Gestalt psychology tries to understand the laws of our ability to acquire and maintain meaningful perceptions in an apparently chaotic world.

In the domain of perception, Gestalt psychologists stipulate that perceptions are the products of complex interactions among various stimuli.
